About Bob!

Bob has worked as a Theatre-maker and educator since 2004, from marketing, consultation, publicity and web design, set and media design and editing, performance, directing, and developing educational workshops for primary and secondary schools. Bob has a particular interest in creating accessible work suitable for all, not just for disabled audiences. He was Lead Artist for Speakeasy Theatre Company for seven years, developing a number of disability theatre projects as well as Directing the adult Learning Disabled Theatre Company, Movers.

Bob is Project Co-ordinator for Pedestrian Arts, as well as seeking Freelance opportunities.

Bob is currently cultivating a curly moustache, and pursuing an interest in homebrewing.

Performer –
Bob is an experienced theatre actor, with specific expertise in schools touring. Credits of note include – Loot New Victoria Theatre, 14/48 Theatre Festival Seattle, Numerous schools tours with Gazebo TIE, Oliver Twist New Victoria Theatre, 14/48 Theatre Festivals in Wolverhampton and Leicester (Bob is a member of the steering committee for the Leicester festival), numerous schools tours with Speakeasy Theatre Company.

Special Olympics Opening Ceremony 2009 - With Movers and Speakeasy Theatre Company

Director –
Bob has directed numerous pieces for stage, specialising in youth theatre and inclusive settings. Most notably Bob directed The Sorting Office Movers’ 2009 tour, Visitor and Onederland part of the Opening Ceremony of 2009’s Special Olympics which was presented to an audience of 25,000 spectators.

Designer –
Bob has skills in set and props design, sound editing and design, as well as media manipulation including multimedia projection, and website design (particularly WordPress sites) Bob is a problem solver, often finding creative ways to invent simple solutions, and user-friendly technical wizardry. As part of Movers’ piece Visitor Bob created a number of multi-sensory installation based artworks, including infra-red sensor triggered lights and images, and stepping stones that triggered sounds when stepped on.

Educator –
Bob has been working in education settings since 2004, with well regarded education companies such as Gazebo, Speakeasy Theatre company, Soft Touch, and Pedestrian. Bob is passionate about using creative means to make learning accessible and purposeful for all.

Disability –
Bob was Director and project lead for Movers, Leicester’s Learning Disabled Theatre Company for five years, as well as developing projects with Special Schools and high quality inclusive Youth Theatre programmes. Bob has trained with companies including Graeae and Kazzum, and is passionate about the positive impact accessible approaches have for all theatre audiences.
